His career spans high and medium voltage I&C metering, asset management, programme management, and network design, supporting the delivery of resilient and future‑ready electricity networks across Ireland. Gerry currently leads the next generation of smart metering procurement for ESB Networks across the island of Ireland. With a strong background in system design, metering technologies, and complex programme delivery, Gerry brings a combination of technical depth and strategic insight to the smart grid domain. Passionate about modernising network infrastructure, he actively contributes to advancing smart metering capabilities that enhance customer engagement, operational efficiency, and grid intelligence.

In his professional life, he coordinates business processes within the AMI system and oversees its development, including the testing of new functionalities.
He has an interest in business intelligence and data processing. He is committed to seeing projects through to completion and remains open to new professional challenges. He believes that the ability to ask the right questions is one of the most valuable skills in any job.

With extensive experience in program management, he previously coordinated the Italgas Smart Meter Program, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards across national and international markets. Holding an Executive MBA and a Master’s in Energy Engineering, Calogero combines technical expertise with strategic vision. His background spans tender management, industrial process engineering, and global project coordination. Passionate about innovation in energy distribution, he actively contributes to advancing smart metering and smart grid solutions for sustainable networks.

Dr. Ismail Hakan Dağhan, born in 1980 in Turkey, is a Senior Electrical Engineer at TEİAŞ, where he has been working since 2007. He has served in various departments, including load dispatching, protection systems, and metering systems, with strong experience in measurement systems. His areas of expertise include High Voltage Engineering, Smart Grids, Smart Meters, FACTS Devices, Grid Flexibility, Optimization, Renewable Energy Systems, and Hydrogen Fuel Cells. Dr. Dağhan actively contributes to TEİAŞ’s R&D efforts and serves as a member and instructor in several technical working groups. He is married with two daughters and is committed to advancing Turkey’s electricity transmission infrastructure.

Markus is head of the “Smart Grid Network Technology” project team. In this role, he is responsible for the introduction of communication technologies for the digitization of the power grids within the E.ON DSO in low and medium voltage.
Employed in Bayernwerk (E.ON DNO) he is responsible for the strategic development of BPL technology for whole E.ON Germany. This primarily affects the construction of a nationwide Powerline network.
He looks back on 10 years of development and supply chain experience in the semiconductor Industry. Since 2010 he has held various positions in the E.ON Group in which he took responsibility for the development and introduction of communication technology for the digitization and smartification of power grids. Further on Markus is representing E.ON in BPL standardization groups PRIME Alliance and Home Grid Forum. Markus holds a master’s degree in Telecommunications (University of Stuttgart) and a Master Professional in Technical Management (CCI).

He contributed to the creation of the Wibree standard, later known as Bluetooth Low Energy, and played a key role in developing the wireless PC peripherals market, co-owning several patents still in use today.
Appointed President and Executive Director of the DLMS User Association in 2019, he strengthened collaboration among members and promoted innovation through standardization, supporting interoperable devices and secure data exchange for electricity, water, gas and heat infrastructures.
Since January 2025, he has served as an expert member of the European Commission’s Smart Energy Expert Group.

He has 25 years of experience in the energy industry. He is responsible for the areas of metering services, smart metering, illegal electricity consumption, metering laboratory. He has extensive leadership experience and expertise in digital transformation.

Previously, Tony developed strategic partnerships for Enedis in the Occitanie region, lead the DigitalPlace technology hub, and held senior positions in startups and research centers. An expert in complex project management, mobility electrification, and IoT ecosystems, he is passionate about technologies that enable the development of flexibility.
